At Good For Others Foundation (GFOF), we believe that the strength of the nonprofit sector lies in the people who serve it. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to help organizations build capacity, develop their teams, and increase their impact without stretching already-tight budgets.
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve submitted our first nonprofit sector grant (and hope to submit ongoing grants) to help support nonprofit organizations across California in accessing state-funded resources through the Employment Training Panel (ETP) Multiple Employer Contract (MEC) program. A powerful, underutilized opportunity that could provide free training to nonprofits.
A Game-Changer for Nonprofit Professional Development
Nonprofits often face the challenge of wanting to invest in their staff while working with limited training dollars. The ETP MEC program changes that. It allows qualifying organizations to receive free employee training with no upfront costs and minimal administrative burden.
Through this partnership, GFOF is helping nonprofits navigate and benefit from the MEC program, making it easier than ever to build stronger, more skilled teams across California.
What Kind of Training Is Covered?
One of the most exciting aspects of the MEC program is its flexibility. Organizations can choose training that aligns with their mission and day-to-day operations, including:
Leadership and management development
Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) practices
Program tools like Salesforce and Apricot
Trauma-informed care and client communication
Fundraising strategy and grant writing
Financial management, HR, and compliance
Digital tools like Excel, Teams, Zoom, and CRMs
Customer service and language skills
Whether you're equipping new supervisors, training on new technology, or investing in more inclusive workplace practices, this program can help you cover the cost.
Who Qualifies?
If your organization meets the following, you may be eligible:
✔ You’re a nonprofit located in California
✔ You employ full-time W2 staff
✔ Your employees earn at or above minimum wage
✔ You provide training that builds job-related skills
Why Partner with GFOF to Access the MEC Program?
At GFOF, we do more than inform—we walk alongside organizations to help them make the most of opportunities like this. When you partner with us:
You don’t have to deal with red tape - we manage the compliance and reporting
You can start training immediately - no waiting for complex approvals
You stay in control - you choose what your team needs to learn
You build capacity without breaking your budget - let the state invest in your staff
Strengthening the Sector, Together
This initiative is one more way GFOF is living out our mission to strengthen the nonprofit sector from the inside out. By helping organizations access ETP MEC funding, we’re ensuring more nonprofit professionals get the tools, training, and confidence they need to thrive in their roles—and ultimately, serve communities more effectively.
We’d love to talk with you about how your nonprofit can benefit. Let’s explore your eligibility and get you free training.
